Save Spearmint the Seal!

The Issue

Spearmint is currently in captivity at the RSPCA after concerns were raised for her welfare. The aim was to then relocate her to somewhere less populated and funds were raised by supporters. Unfortunately the RSPCA reported that she was no longer eating and had an ear infection develop which wasn't present at her arrival. Being held in captivity alone, after enjoying being free and around people has been detrimental to her well-being. “Euthanasia” is one of the options the RSPCA has on the table for poor Spearmint if they determine she can't be released back into the wild. The RSPCA has a policy that will not permit Spearmint to live her life out in a sanctuary. THIS NEEDS TO BE CHANGED! In Spearmint’s case ending her life would not be humane or merciful! Spearmint needs our support so that she can thrive and live out her many future years in a sanctuary if well enough to lead a happy and enriched life in one. We ask the RSPCA to consider taking exception to their blanket no captivity rule for Spearmint. Please consider captivity as an alternative to euthanasia if re-release is not an option. Please don't kill her if there is a chance she could live a happy healthy life in a sanctuary.
