We, the citizens of South Africa, are tired of living under a government that has failed us at multiple levels. From corruption and cadre deployment to collapsing public services and runaway crime, ordinary people are paying the price while leaders recycle themselves into positions of power without qualifications or integrity.

This petition is a united call for accountability, reform, and real change across Parliament, policing, Home Affairs, health, the economy, and every state-run department.

Age Limits in Parliament: No person over 65 should hold public office. South Africa’s future must be shaped by younger leaders with fresh ideas.

No Criminals in Office: Any person with a criminal record or corruption conviction must be barred from holding public office.

Merit-Based Appointments: Ministers must be appointed based on relevant qualifications and industry experience, not factional loyalty.

Transparency: MPs and ministers must publicly disclose their qualifications, work history, and any past charges.

Secure Borders: Illegal immigration must be addressed through modern border security, biometric systems, and inter-agency coordination.

Accountability at Home Affairs: End the corruption and dysfunction blocking IDs, permits, and passports. Clear backlogs with audited, digital workflows.

Deportation Enforcement (Fair & Lawful): Undocumented migrants should be processed lawfully and humanely, with consistent enforcement.

Jobs for South Africans First: Prioritise hiring of qualified South Africans in teaching and nursing before importing foreign labour.

Fix Our Hospitals: Urgently address overcrowding, staff shortages, equipment failures, and collapsing infrastructure.

Accountability: Provincial health departments must answer for medicine shortages, mismanagement, and negligence—with consequences.

Fitness & Standards: Fitness must be a minimum requirement for police and military service. An unfit force cannot protect citizens.

Body‑Worn Cameras: Mandate body cams for all police and traffic officers with secure cloud storage and public-access protocols to curb bribery and abuse.

Support Competent Cadres: Recognise the contribution of private security guards—create pathways into SAPS and SANDF based on competence and track record, not only matric certificates.

Visible, Intelligence‑Led Policing: Focus on violent crime, organised syndicates, and extortion rackets—not revenue-driven stops and petty harassment.

5️⃣ Traffic & Road Safety

End Licensing Corruption: Digitise, audit, and independently monitor licensing centres to stamp out bribery.

Body Cams for Traffic Police: Universal, always-on body cams to protect citizens and honest officers alike

Fix Road Infrastructure: Ring‑fence fuel levies and licence fees to repair potholes, signage, and lighting—with quarterly public reports.

6️⃣ Jobs, Economy & Minerals (Local Beneficiation)

Process Minerals Locally: Build refining and beneficiation capacity for gold, PGMs, chrome, manganese and other resources inside South Africa to create jobs and value chains.

Industrial Strategy: Incentivise downstream manufacturing, export of finished goods, and skills pipelines through TVETs and apprenticeships.

7️⃣ Illegal Mining & Resource Security

National Task Force on Illegal Mining: Establish a permanent, specialised unit (with prosecutors) to dismantle zama‑zama networks, financiers, and cross‑border buyers.

Seal and Rehabilitate Disused Shafts: Fast‑track closure/rehabilitation of abandoned mines to prevent re‑entry and environmental harm.

Traceability & Smelter Controls: Enforce chain‑of‑custody on ore; license and audit smelters/refiners to block illicit minerals from entering legal markets.

Protect Communities & Infrastructure: Secure rail lines, power infrastructure, and communities affected by illegal mining violence and extortion.

Scale Anti‑Gang Units Nationally: Expand intelligence‑led Anti‑Gang Units with dedicated prosecutors and asset‑forfeiture teams.

Cut Supply Chains: Tighten port, border, and postal inspections; target import corridors for precursor chemicals and narcotics.

Crush Extortion Rackets: Prioritise construction mafia, business‑front extortion, and taxi‑linked violence through integrated task teams.

Prevention & Recovery: Fund community rehab centres, school safety officers, and after‑school programmes to keep youth out of gangs.

Zero Tolerance for Corruption: Lifetime bans from public service for officials found guilty of corruption or tender fraud.

Performance Contracts: Every DG, HOD, mayor and CEO of an SOE must sign a public performance contract with measurable targets.

Independent Citizens’ Oversight: Establish a non‑partisan public watchdog with subpoena powers to audit departments and SOEs, publish findings, and refer cases for prosecution.

Open Budgets & Dashboards: Real‑time public dashboards for procurement, project progress, and service‑delivery metrics.

We live in a country where hospitals collapse while billions are looted; where illegal immigration and illegal mining strain services and fuel violence; where ministers are appointed without qualifications; where drugs and gangs terrorise communities; where many honest security guards are shut out of service while corrupt officials thrive; and where traffic corruption and failing roads endanger lives daily.

This is not the South Africa we were promised. It can—and must—change.
