Save Sister Square so we can continue providing women of the dtes a safe place to go
The Issue
Women in the dtes face many obstacles including but not limited to being discriminated against being attacked by bad dates and random men. And are far more likely to find themselves in dangerous situations when they are desperate due to being tired, hungry and cold.
Sister Square was a save place they could go to avoid those situations or to recoup if they had been attacked. Give them a clean washroom and shower. A change of clothes a meal if they are hungry and wrap them in a blanket if they are cold. With support from their peers.
We have recently been closed down along with many other resources in the area for at risk women forcing many women who considered us their home in the street. We are asking for your support in finding a new location to continue saving lives
HELP SAVE SISTER SQUARE!!
Since 2019 I have worked as a peer support worker a role that has changed my life where I truely felt I was making a difference and saving lives not just with overdoses but in the past six years I've talked many people down from suicide, helped women escape abusive relationships, helped women get into housing and off the streets, and even into detox. I've wrapped them in a blanket when they were cold gave them a place to rest when they were tired, a meal when they were hungry.
Has many of you may know that Sister Square closed down early this month along with many other resources for at risk women of the DTES putting many women on the streets and at risk. And I'm asking for your support in getting us re opened either in our old location or finding us a knew one
