Firstly, thank you all so very much for signing our petition!
You have helped to make our voices heard! We now have over 38,000 signatures, and we would like to hit 50,000!
The Town of Collingwood is very aware of our goal to stop environmental damage and flooding potentially caused by the approval of the two developments located on or near the Silver Creek Wetland Complex and its floodplain.
Unfortunately, as expected, the Ford Government’s Ontario Land Tribunal process has led to a settlement with one of the developments, Huntingwood Trails. This approval is based on the developer meeting certain conditions and criteria to the satisfaction of the Town of Collingwood (ToC) and the Nottawasaga Conservation Authority (NVCA).
THE FIGHT IS NOT OVER YET!
We have asked the Town of Collingwood to make public both Minutes of Settlement and copies of the witness statements provided by the NVCA. We will use these documents to continue pushing to ensure the protection of our natural heritage.
You can help us put more pressure on government officials by sharing our petition, joining our Facebook community and donating to our GoFundMe page to help offset costs for signs, t-shirts, travel, etc
Make sure you VOTE in the upcoming municipal elections and spend time getting to know where the candidates stand on environmental issues!
You also have the ability to shape the future of Collingwood by providing your comments to the OFFICIAL PLAN:

If you need help providing feedback on the Official Plan, go to our Facebook page for more info (see post 15 August 2022) and join our community while you are there! One of our suggestions is that “Where development has been approved on or adjacent to environmentally sensitive areas (this needs to be clearly defined as well) that a ToC or NVCA representative must be on the work site at all times that workers are present (at the expense of the developer).
