Today is election day in Tiny Township. If you haven't voted yet, please do it today. Voting closes tonight at 8:00 pm.

The next Council will decide what happens to Sawlog Point. Before the election I asked ten candidates for Councillor three questions: would they keep the public waterfront and trail public in perpetuity, support a conservation easement or covenant with a land trust, and wait for a multi-season field study and peer review before considering any rezoning for lots?

These four candidates replied yes:

Laura Hughes: yes to all three questions.
John Bryant: yes to all three.
Dave Sparrock: yes to all three.
Steve McNamara: yes to the first two, and he would not rezone the lots if the easement succeeds.

Councillor Kelly Helowka, who is running for re-election, told me in person that he would support the protection of Sawlog Point.

Councillor Dave Brunelle voted AGAINST the protection of Sawlog.

This update reports the answers I received. It is not paid for by, or affiliated with, any candidate.

Please take a few minutes to vote today, and send this to a neighbour who hasn't yet.

Thank you for standing up for Sawlog Point.
