Hello everyone,

Thank you for signing. More than 500 of you have asked that the public waterfront and trail at Sawlog Point stay public, and that the wetland and forest be protected.

Voting in the Township of Tiny election closes Monday, October 26 at 8:00 pm. The next Council will decide what happens to this land, so your vote matters.

On October 16, I emailed ten candidates for Councillor three questions about Sawlog Point. If elected, would you:

1. Keep the public waterfront and trail public in perpetuity?
2. Support a conservation easement or covenant with a land trust to protect the wetland and forest?
3. Wait for a multi-season field study and the peer review of the Environmental Impact Study before considering any rezoning for lots?

Six candidates replied. These four said yes:

- Laura Hughes: yes to all three questions.
- John Bryant: yes to all three, including a four-season environmental assessment before any rezoning.
- Dave Sparrock: yes to all three, including a multi-season study before any rezoning.
- Steve McNamara: yes to the first two, and he would not rezone the lots if the easement succeeds.

Two other candidates replied with different positions, and four have not replied.

Councillor Kelly Helowka, who is running for re-election, was not part of that email. He told me in person that he would support the protection of Sawlog Point.

You are welcome to ask any candidate these questions yourself.

This update reports the answers I received. It is not paid for by, or affiliated with, any candidate. Voting details are on the Township's website, tiny.ca.

Please vote, and please share this with neighbours who care about Sawlog Point.

Thank you for standing up for it.
