SAE University College Byron Bay has been a creative hub and learning space for over two decades. Beginning as an audio and film education space, it has since expanded to various creative media education and drawn students and staff from all over the world.

In a town iconic for it’s creativity, it’s more than just a campus, it’s home to world class music studios and has been a home for many students as the only Australian campus offering on campus accommodation. The education and facilities have paved the way for many world-class musicians, filmmakers, designers, and digital artists. 

The announced closure of SAE Byron would be a devastating loss to students, staff, alumni, and the entire Byron Bay community. We request that SAE Global and Navitas:

 • Reverse the closure decision OR

 • Explore alternatives such as downsizing, partnerships, or community support

SAE has become the heartbeat of Byron Bay’s creative spirit in Australia’s renowned creative region, which has already suffered losses of venues, festivals and creative life over the years.

SAE is a legacy and family to many creatives. The Byron Bay campus is a creative sanctuary and there is nothing like it.
