Save Rose Cottage Site, Altrincham

Save Rose Cottage Site, Altrincham
The Issue
As a resident of Altrincham, I am deeply concerned about the Trafford Council's proposal to convert the land of Rose Cottage into a permanent traveller site. This area, which is currently owned by The National Trust, was not informed of this proposal and remains unsuitable for such a development.
One of the primary concerns is the proximity of the proposed site to Oldfield Brow Primary School. The safety of children is at risk, given the potential increase in traffic and unfamiliar individuals frequenting the area. Our community cherishes its peace and family-friendly environment, and we cannot overlook the potential dangers posed to our young ones.
Moreover, the proposed traveller site raises significant concerns regarding noise, litter, uncontrolled dogs, and human waste. There is a complete lack of clear sanitation or waste management plans, which could lead to severe environmental and health issues. Our community deserves to live in a clean and safe environment, but this proposal threatens this fundamental right.
Additionally, there is a real risk of overspill and encroachment onto surrounding farmland, green spaces, and business premises. These areas are vital to our community's character and economy, and any threat to them must be addressed firmly.
The negative impact upon property values is another significant concern. Many residents rely on their property's equity for future financial security, and the proposed development could jeopardise this. Rising insurance costs may also become an issue, placing an undue financial burden on residents.
Each of these concerns underlines why the Rose Cottage area is wholly unsuitable for the proposed development. It is crucial for the community's voice to be heard and for alternative solutions to be considered that do not pose such risks to our neighbourhood.
We urge Trafford Council to reconsider this proposal seriously and to engage with the community in meaningful dialogue. By signing this petition, you can help protect our community and ensure that our future developments are thoughtful and beneficial to all residents. Please sign this petition to stop the traveller site proposal at Rose Cottage, Altrincham.
