Sunday February 16th, Roscoe and Kiko were involved in an incident with a dog sitter where they bit another dog. The dog in question was fine, no x-rays, no stitches, simply a couple puncture wounds- no long term concerns. In the incident, Kiko and Roscoe were also beaten with a cane (didn’t help the situation at all, shocker) and bitten back. This is the first encounter of this kind we’ve ever had and I wasn’t even around to help prevent it.

Animal control has confiscated the dog as they are subject to a 10-day rabies quarantine. If, during this time, they are deemed “dangerous”, the courts can decide to have them killed. As outrageous as that seems given the circumstances, it is a potential reality of our situation.

We understand the gravity of the situation but if you have ever met my little guys, you know they’re not even remotely close to being considered dangerous. 

All I ask is that if you have ever met Roscoe and Kiko and felt safe or enjoyed having them around, please sign. I’m optimistic that if this goes sideways, hundreds of first hand encounters may carry more weight than some new mexico judge who has never encountered them. They are my family and being their only real owner, I have let them down, not the other way around. 

I sincerely hope you know that I appreciate any support you might provide and I hope you guys will continue to be able to see them at sporting events this spring
