Our beloved Richmond Library is at risk for closure due to negligence by the city to properly assist in maintaining the building. Over the last few years and increasingly in the last few months, the library has experienced many structural issues that continue to worsen. This includes but is not limited to faulty HVAC, a broken boiler, ceiling damage due to improper roof restoration. 

This library is a staple in the community. It provides a safe space for children to play, get homework help, and utilize programming. Adults use the space to gather, use the computers, print important documents, and meet other members in the community. The families in the neighborhood adore Miss Megan’s story times, and the expansive children’s toys and books available while building community.

We simply can’t lose our library, it would be devastating to the people of Port Richmond and its surrounding neighborhood. Please sign the petition to show Councilman Squilla’s office how much this building and its facilities mean to us and handle these building issues promptly and take action NOW!

The staff cares about the people in this community, and the people in this neighborhood truly care about the outcome of this building. We hope you understand the urgency to fix the issues restricting the building from being properly used.
