The potential closure of the Richborough Waste Recycling Centre is an important issue for many residents of Sandwich and the surrounding areas.
Last night’s public meeting was a resounding success.
It was great to see so many people, from Sandwich and beyond, make the effort to come along to St. Mary’s Arts Centre to voice their opinions on what we might do to fight against the closure. Passions certainly ran deep with many there about this half-baked KCC initiative.
We have some excellent suggestions on how to expand our campaign and some very willing volunteers wanting to get involved in making things happen.
The KCC Transport and Environment Committee are due to meet on 5th July to discuss again the “Household Waste Recycling Centre Review” Report with the expectation that a 12 week consultation period will follow soon afterwards.
We, therefore, have a little time to agree, in a structured manner, the action we want to take.
Over the next few days, I will be taking stock of all that came out last night’s meeting with two of the other organisers, Mark Moorhouse and Lynne Ripley, so that we organise and target our efforts sensibly and with maximum impact.
There is still time to add names to the list of volunteers who want to play a part, be it small or large, in the various activities we will run over the period of the consultation. If anyone is interested you can either message me direct via Facebook or you can email me at emmetcsuka@gmail.com
