Thank you to all who have signed and shared the local petition to save RBS Giffnock. We are doing well, but if we are to exert the necessary pressure on the RBS to re-think, we will need to keep building the support.

Our starting position must be to save our local bank. If that is not viable, we can call on the RBS to review and work out what is feasible in the existing premises. Many still use the bank and I don't accept that it is right to close it.

I am campaigning as a local resident, a business and personal customer and as a former employee of the bank (I worked in the branch way back in 1996). But this campaign isn't about my needs or sentimentality; it is about community. The RBS in Giffnock is far more than a financial institution; it is part of our community. Anyone who has stood in the queue and has heard the warm welcome by its staff to all customers will understand that.

Some do not understand community. Some say we are wasting our time. Some want us to fail. Let's make it clear to the RBS that they are a tiny minority.

Please sign and share the petition. And if you are in Giffnock this week, please pop in and tell the staff that we are standing up for their jobs too.
