Save Pokémon UNITE from shutdown
The Issue
We ask The Pokémon Company, TiMi Studio Group/Tencent Games and Nintendo to reconsider the shutdown of Pokémon UNITE scheduled for March 23, 2027, and work with its community on a better way forward.
I’ve spent years playing UNITE, spent money supporting it and encouraged others to join. Many of us kept coming back through frustrating matches and expensive events because we believed this game had something special.
Playing together with Pokémon we love deserves a future.
Seeing the ambitious social spaces and interactions introduced in the Chinese version showed how much UNITE could offer beyond its battles. As a global player, I wanted that same ambition brought to our experience. Meanwhile, Holowear prices and complicated spending systems increasingly made supporting the game feel unreasonable.
We want UNITE to continue with five clear improvements:
Better matchmaking. Build fairer teams around players’ abilities, prioritise matches between real players and clearly disclose when bots are used.
Fair Holowear prices. Offer reasonably priced cosmetics through straightforward purchases, with clear costs and rewards.
A fuller global experience. Bring social spaces, Pokémon interactions and activities beyond battles to players worldwide. Promote UNITE through the wider Pokémon community and give new players reasons to discover it.
Proper tutorials for every role. Introduce Attackers, Defenders, Supporters, Speedsters and All-Rounders through guided practice. Teach positioning, objectives and teamwork so newcomers understand how to contribute.
Communication that leads to action. Explain the reasons for the shutdown, address community concerns and publish concrete plans for any proposed way forward.
Please explain what alternatives to closure were considered and whether a sustainable way to keep UNITE playable remains possible. Give the community an opportunity to respond.
We still want to play this game, bring our friends into it and feel good about supporting it.
Please reconsider the shutdown and give Pokémon UNITE a real chance.
