Greenwich Council has now launched a consultation on the borough’s adventure playgrounds. Plumstead Adventure Playground is not included in the proposals — for now.

This is a result of community pressure and your support. Thank you.

However, there is NO long-term guarantee that Plumstead will stay open, staffed, and protected. We believe it has been excluded for political reasons, not because it is safe — and it could still be cut later.

Save Plumstead Adventure Playground – Our Children’s Future Depends On It!!

This is my autistic nephew’s favourite place in London. It’s where children and young people—of all abilities—come together to laugh, play, and simply be kids. Closing it would rip the heart out of our community.

Plumstead Adventure Playground isn’t just a set of swings. For decades, it’s been a lifeline—a safe, free space where children, especially those with special needs, can grow in confidence, make friends, and feel they belong. For many families in Plumstead, it’s the only place their kids can play outdoors without fear or exclusion.

Now, this vital community hub is under threat of closure. If it goes, it’s gone forever—taking with it not just a playground, but a piece of our shared history, our local culture, and the social glue that keeps our neighbourhood strong.

In a city where children are increasingly trapped indoors and behind screens, places like this are essential. Outdoor play reduces anxiety, boosts mental health, builds social skills, and keeps kids active. To take that away is to knowingly harm our children’s wellbeing.

This is not “just” a playground. It’s a sanctuary. A meeting place. A childhood memory in the making. Without it, many parents will be left with nowhere safe to take their kids—and many children will lose the only place they truly feel free.

We cannot—and will not—stand by while this space is stolen from our children.
