Friends of Pine CreekAustralia
Sep 18, 2025

Since initiating this petition in 2024, there has been some progress in Pine Creek State Forest (PCSF). In 2024 and early 2025, the community rallied and successfully defended areas of the Pine Creek Forest Bridge from logging, holding a protest camp for almost a year. This petition was presented to NSW parliament in September 2024 by Senator Sue Higginson, with over 23,000 signatures. Due to great community effort, there has been no logging in Pine Creek in the last two years.

And most recently the Great Koala National Park has been announced by the NSW state government. The good news is that approximately 40% of the Pine Creek Forest Bridge is now protected. However, there are still large swathes of established koala habitat within PCSF that will not fall under protection of the GKNP and we will continue to advocate for the establishment of the Forest Bridge to protect the future of these local koalas. Currently areas of the Forest Bridge are in planning and proposed for logging within the next 12 months, so the threat to remains, and may increase with other forested areas set to be protected under the GKNP.

Please consider sharing and signing this petition in support of the Forest Bridge and koala habitat of Pine Creek State Forest.
