Picker's Place Garden Center is not just a place of employment for me, it is a cherished part of our Sauk County community. Known for providing low-cost produce, flowers, plants, and unique Amish goods, Picker's has become a staple in many lives, attracting customers from across the state who appreciate our commitment to quality and affordability.

However, our very existence is now under threat. On June 5, 2025, a Dane County Sheriff officer served Picker's with closure papers following a complaint from the Village of Sauk City. The complaint labels Picker's as an 'eyesore' at the gateway to the city, and the county is levying staggering fines of $1800.00 per day, starting retroactively from November 8, 2024.

This is not just a battle for a business; it's a fight to preserve a community hub that countless families rely on for fresh and affordable goods. Closing Picker's would not only displace employees like myself but would also strip away a beloved community gathering place.

We are calling upon Dane County to reconsider this decision that threatens to strip away an important piece of our local economy. We urge them to work with us to find a mutually beneficial solution that supports community success while addressing their concerns.
