For over 15 years, our family has embraced the benefits of raw milk and dairy. We support clean, natural food sources, and we have relied on herd share agreements to obtain our raw milk supply. However, this vital resource for us, and many others in North Carolina, is under threat with NC Senate Bill-639 Section106-266.35

Herd share agreements allow individuals to purchase a share of a dairy animal or herd, thus providing them with a portion of the milk produced. This model is particularly important in North Carolina, where legal restrictions make it challenging to access raw milk directly through conventional retail outlets. Many families like mine depend on these agreements to provide nutritious, whole milk to our children.

Despite the demand from health-conscious consumers, herd share agreements face significant legal scrutiny and potential elimination. Current laws and regulations regarding raw milk in North Carolina do not adequately reflect the informed choices of consumers who yearn for fresh, unprocessed dairy products. Instead, they limit access and stifle consumer freedoms.
