Gosh, I am so thankful for all of you who have already signed, shared and spoke your stories about our wonderful gem of a birth center. And a huge thank you to Change.org for this platform that is easily navigated and helps those needing to use their voices for the betterment of any cause!
Yesterday I seen a news clip that really got me riled up. It was Parkview Health celebrating their 15th year of having naming rights to Parkview Field, which costs the non-profit a whomping $300k a year to have those rights. That is 4.5 MILLION dollars that has went to a baseball park! While I do agree that supporting our downtown infrastructures, I do know that each city does indeed have funding, and grants, organizations that will and do help continue to keep up with downtown improvements. To BOAST that because of Parkview owning naming rights and partnering with a baseball field in the same month that they announce that they "Simply want to combine labor and delivery services into fewer hospitals" Or "lack of quality care providers" for the reason they would shut down two entire labor and delivery units, feels down right sick.
Have women and families not fought enough to have better birthing options? Have midwifes and birth workers not battled huge health systems ALL over the WORLD to get back one of the most natural human rights.
There is much more at stake during pregnancy, birth and postpartum than just a healthy baby, healthy mom. We need to understand our human rights. And the right to have accessible care.
Together we can preserve birth centers that are already working with the right type of support and understanding compassionate model of care.
Please continue to share this campaign and get the word out! Your voice matters!!
