Everyone who has ever had a baby knows how life altering birth can be. Some of us have experienced easy uncomplicated wonderful births. And then some of us have had many complications, or felt unheard during our labor and birth.
At Dekalb, your voice matters when you birth with the midwives! You are heard! The nursing staff at Dekalb are some of the BEST nurses in any labor and delivery unit I have ever worked in during my 10 years plus of serving birthing families.
They are this way BECAUSE of the midwives who view them as equals and a valuable asset to a birthing team.
Families NEED more birthing options. Closing down this department will greatly limit families in their search for the right birthing location.
