Parkchester Watch GroupBronx, NY, United States
Jun 23, 2023

Our Rally IS THIS. Saturday, June 24 rain or shine at 11 am starting at Virginia Park to address the quality of life issue in Parkchester including but not limited to lack of hot water, mold, elevator issues, leaks, trash collection, and heat. More details to come. Tell your neighbors and have them join our social media we need to get the word out. Rally is going on rain or shine. Bring your umbrellas, and bring your sign.

As per NYC law: You may use signs at your event, as long as they are not affixed to wooden sticks or plastic or metal poles. Signs cannot be attached to public property, such as trees, light posts, or police barriers.

Some ideas may include:

Give us heat

Where is the heat

Public safety check for crime not for carpet

Ovens are not for heat

The board: you work for us, not the sponsor

Pick up the trash daily

Our drives are not landfills

Heat should be provided not requested

Heat is a human right

NYCHA has heat but my condo doesn’t!

Mismanagedchester

Fix the sinkhole

Our petition has surpassed 1,631 signatures!

We now have an easy way to share the petition; please tell 3 new neighbors to go to www.parkchesterwatchgroup.org  where you will be directed to the petition.

We are still in need of volunteers to pass out flyers, post them in stores (with permission) , put flyers on cars and light poles and in lobbies Parkchester and under apartment doors in North and South Condominium buildings. Please email parkchesterwatchgroup@gmail.com if you are interested. We also would like people to serve as building monitors to keep us up to date on conditions in and around their building.

A meeting by the NYC Dept of Transportation. Improvements will be made to the Cross Bronx including possibly covering it with a park. The city is seeking public feedback. If you have concerns please attend. One possible question is will the exhaust from the highway be filtered since capping it will mean exhaust only coming out in certain places.

Virtual: Wednesday, July 12th | 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

The Parkchester Watch Group has started a Letter Writing Campaign to state agencies, government officials, and Public Advocates. We are hoping you will join the Letter Writing Campaign.  We hope your participation in this Letter Writing Campaign will help address and improve the quality of life issues residents of the Parkchester North and South Condominium community are dealing with.

Please see below the USPS mailing addresses, emails, and links where you can submit your letter. Additionally, please see the SAMPLE language for your use.  Please feel free to use your own language.

Sample Language:

I am a resident of the Parkchester Condominium community located in the Bronx, NY.  I am reaching out to you to receive guidance and assistance addressing quality of life issues residents of Parkchester North and South Condominiums are facing.  Residents living in the North and South Condominiums have contacted management to address the quality of life issues that exist in our community.

Below is a list of major ongoing quality-of-life issues:

Non-functioning elevators in several buildings, impacting all residents, including tenants with mobility issues, senior citizens, and tenants using wheelchairs and walkers.
Inoperable elevators in all commercial parking facilities, impacting residents especially those with mobility issues.
Heat Issues: boiler malfunctions multiple times throughout the winter, leaving tenants without heat for multiple days.
Garbage Disposal: producing hazardous conditions/fire hazards due to poor trash management, which attracts vermin.
Lack of Repairs/Maintenance in apartments and public areas of the complex.
Lack of transparency: Owners have no direct access to privately contact elected condominium board members.
Lack of fiscal responsibility: Outstanding complaints filed by residents resulting in massive fines. Fines can be viewed on the DOB and HPD sites.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
