Best for people’s mental & physical health and the environment. There aren’t enough doctors, dentists, schools, or public transport links to accommodate an increase in population in this area. Traffic congestion has increased dramatically since 2019 and air quality decreased as drivers divert away from Sheffield’s Clean Air Zone (CAZ).

Sheffield City Council (SCC) plans to build on Phase 2 of Owlthorpe Grassland Grazing Project. This cannot be achieved without the destruction of these hedgerows that had been managed under the Natural England’s Higher Level Stewardship Scheme and classified by Natural England as of “High Environmental Value”. This will destroy the carbon capture that we have achieved so far. The funding of new hedgerows came from Sheffield City Council’s Ward Pot for Carbon Sequestration.
The new hedgerows around the perimeter of the site were newly planted, with the help of over 150 local primary (elementary) school children, before 2012.
