Would it be considered acceptable to build on Endcliffe, Graves, Millhouses Firth or Concord Parks? Of course not! For exactly the same reasons we need our green space.”

Sheffield City Council (SCC) plans to build on Phase 2 of Owlthorpe Grassland Grazing Project. This cannot be achieved without the destruction of these hedgerows that had been managed under the Natural England’s Higher Level Stewardship Scheme and classified by Natural England as of “High Environmental Value”. This will destroy the carbon capture that we have achieved so far. The funding of new hedgerows came from Sheffield City Council’s Ward Pot for Carbon Sequestration.
The new hedgerows around the perimeter of the site were newly planted, with the help of over 150 local primary (elementary) school children, before 2012.
