Today a local councillor made a comment that “the proposed local plan voted on by the Borough Council on 8th June mentions Affordable Housing at a rate of 40% on large developments subject to it being 'viable' economically for the developer to provide that number. “
So this got me thinking.,. Is Leafy Lane an economical viable site for housing? personally we don’t think it is..
The average house price for new properties built near Hands Road are averaging between 350k- 400k at Band D-E and near those properties are some older homes which have a similar bracket. While affordable housing is necessary, hypothetically speaking, developers could see this range of new builds and think we want to build the same type of houses and make the same type of money as those other developers.. therefore could turn say to the council sorry it’s not economically viable for us to meet your quota but I’ll still buy your land.. this would be a win win situation for the council as they would get paid for their land and a win for the developer.. the real losers would be the residents, community and even more so our beautiful wildlife and trees!
I wonder how many other people would be thinking the same on this?..
Anyways, once again! Thank you to everyone that is supporting this campaign to say no to houses on Leafy Lane!
