Hi all

An amazing response to the 'Save our Shropdoc' petition.  13,297 signatories tonight (Monday 24th February). Absolutely fantastic and just shows how much people in Shropshire care about this valued and established local medical service.

The petition has certainly had an impact:

  • the issuing of the contract to Medvivo has been delayed and the 'standstill' period following the announcement has been extended.  It looks like this will now be referred to an NHS independent panel to decide what happens next.
  • We have had extensive news coverage in the Shropshire Star, Shrewsbury Chronicle, Ludlow Advertise etc.  And also in Pulse, a national magazine aimed at GPs.
  • Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire Councils are debating motions on the crazy decision by NHS bosses to take the contract away from Shropdoc
  • MPs Shaun Davies and Julia Buckley have started to get involved

If you want to do more you can.  Shropshire Defend our NHS has organised a lobby of the Shropshire Council meeting this Thursday to DEFEND SHROPDOC.  We understand that the Council will be discussing a motion put forward by Cllr Bernie Bentick and Cllr Julia Evans calling on the Council to support our excellent Shropdoc.  It will be a peaceful and dignified protest and you are welcome to join us

Thursday 27th February, 9:15 at The Guildhall, Shrewsbury

Many thanks all.
