We did it!

We did it! We reached 1 MILLION signatures! Every single one of you was instrumental in the success of this petition so far:

• The Sign Up Genius is about 50% completed. We're still looking for a few more volunteers who'd like to forward our plea to then U.S. Senate, through email and in person (eventually) for relief aid, as self-employed workers aren't currently eligible for unemployment and many of us struggle to maintain health insurance at currents rates https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090849aeae2dabf94-help
• Our voice was heard and distributed by the news, Modern Salon, and a write up in Self magazine. Let's get louder  (more on that in a minute) 
• Many more states have mandated closures of nonessential and personal beauty businesses, (including my own now) leaving many of us now without any income at, and there must be a way around that.....

So here's what I'm thinking are our next steps:

1. I'm asking for some volunteers so we can form a Media Relations committee. I think 4 or 5 people reaching out to local state media (news stations, papers, online journalists) could be very effective in getting our voice heard 
2. There's a demand on Instagram from Caitlin Ford for action on the part of the big product companies (especially L'Oreal) to provide support for stylists during this time. I'd love a form a small committee of 4-5 people to begin reaching out to these companies, the ones we use and support every day with purchases. Her idea is BRILLIANT and we all need to stand behind her and demand help from these corporations as well. Check out her post here:   https://www.instagram.com/p/B999s3GAyBe/?igshid=14j5d2qpfdxkh
3. There are many ideas floating around about how to continue generating income during this shutdown. If someone would like to help compile them together, we could host a small webinar to go over a few and help those who aren't tech savvy (including me!) design online gift certificates, create YouTube styling videos for our clients, etc.
