Young and old are drawing red squirrels. We need the Government to notice them too.

A huge thank you to everyone who has sent in entries to The People’s Red Squirrel Collection so far. Here is just a small selection.

We’ve received drawings, sketches and photographs from supporters of all ages, and each one helps keep Britain’s native red squirrel in the public eye.

But while the Collection is growing, our petition has stalled at just over 85,000 signatures.

That matters, because red squirrels cannot afford to drift quietly out of public consciousness.

One older supporter told us that, as a boy, red squirrels were everywhere. One of our youngest entrants, aged five, told us she has seen them at a wildlife park — but never in the wild.

That is the story we are trying to change.

If you haven’t yet entered the Collection, there is still time. Just email your drawing, painting or favourite red squirrel photograph to hello@saveourreds.uk before 31 August.
