Save our orchestra’s string day

Save our orchestra’s string day

The Issue

Just a few weeks ago, my fellow orchestra members and I were brimming with excitement. We had been eagerly anticipating our participation in String Day, a day dedicated entirely to celebrating and honing our musical talents. Unfortunately, the opportunity that we were promised is in jeopardy, as we recently received the disappointing news that String Day may be canceled.

This event wasn't just a day marked on our calendar; it was a symbol of dedication and commitment to the development of our skills and appreciation for the art of music. String Day offers musicians the chance to participate in workshops, collaborate with peers, and perform with other talented groups creating an enriching experience that transcends a typical day of rehearsals.

String Day is vital for nurturing talent and passion in our orchestra. Many of us have poured countless hours of practice into preparing for this event. It's not only an opportunity to grow as musicians but also as individuals who can appreciate the synergy and harmony that playing music together brings.

The benefits of String Day go beyond the music itself; it fosters community, builds confidence, and encourages each of us to reach new heights in our musical journey. To cancel this event is to undermine the potential it offers to us young musicians. Moreover, canceling it at the last minute disheartens the students who have shown consistent dedication to their craft.

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may have prompted this decision. However, we believe there are viable alternatives to outright cancellation. Whether it means rescheduling, reducing the scope of the event, or even transforming it into a virtual gathering, we are committed to finding a solution that allows the spirit and intention of String Day to live on.

Please join us in our mission to see our efforts recognized and to prevent the cancellation of String Day. We hope to preserve this unique opportunity for learning and growth. Your signature can help us show our school administration how much this event matters to us. Let's ensure the music doesn't stop.
