📅 PLEASE SHOW UP - Developer Booth at the Live Oak Farmers Market this weekend!

📅 PLEASE SHOW UP — SUNDAY, AUGUST 30 | 9AM–1PM
Live Oak Farmers Market
The developer of the 7th Ave & Brommer project will be at the Farmers Market this Sunday. If you’ve signed this petition, live in this neighborhood, or care about what is happening throughout Santa Cruz County, we need you there.
This is currently the developer’s only planned community meeting, a booth at the market. This cannot just be about gaining public approval. They need to hear directly from the residents who will actually be impacted by this project.
Please come. Ask questions. Bring your neighbors. We need numbers and we need your voices.
A few important questions we need answered:
• Four stories directly next to existing homes: Four stories is simply too high and too dense directly against a neighborhood of mostly one- and two-story homes. We are asking for thoughtful step-downs in height, more trees and privacy buffers. Why hasn’t the building been designed to step down in height where it directly borders existing homes, rather than placing four stories directly against a one- and two-story neighborhood?
• Why are all 100 units being concentrated on just 2.3 acres when the adjacent 1.14-acre parcel has no neighboring homes? Why wasn't a more thoughtful combined site plan considered?
• Parking: Only 66 spaces for 100 units, including roughly 25 three-bedroom family units, with virtually no nearby street parking. Where will everyone park, and has an updated parking study been completed?
• Water, Sewage + Environment: Has the infrastructure impact been fully studied, including the cumulative effects of sewage, runoff and increased traffic on this harbor-adjacent habitat?
• Access/Easement: Project graphics show a road or corridor crossing the property. Who owns it, does the developer have legal permission to use it, and was it included in the original sale agreement?
• Heritage Oak Trees Preservation: If liability from children climbing the preserved oak trees is a concern, what is actually being done to protect the trees?
• Future Density: County studies have evaluated development capacity of up to 45 units per acre on this site. We want transparency about how much additional development could ultimately be built here.
We are NOT against affordable housing. We are asking for thoughtful design, transparency, safety and real consideration for the neighborhood this project is being built in.
Please show up Sunday and help us make sure these questions cannot simply be ignored.
