The Museum of Oxford has just celebrated its 50th anniversary.   A celebration was held in the museum last night on the 12th February.   It was a very special occasion and the speakers  took us right back to the very formation of the museum when its location was Broad Street.   This was followed by photos of the opening of the Museum in the Town  Hall premises.  There was a slide show showing the beautiful art work and historical items which have been freely given and are displayed in the museum.   The speakers highlighted all the amazing hard work that the museum staff do and all of the wonderful events that are planned for the coming year.  What was not mentioned, of course, was the effect that the new entrance charges may have on footfall in the museum.   We are monitoring this and will keep you informed as soon as we have figures on this.   Please keep signing and sharing.  There are now almost 1900 signatures on the petition and the more signatures we have the stronger we will be.
