A phenomenal u-turn on what was a very bleak outlook for some of our already most deprived communities with limited public services.
It really does show the power of the people and how many small things can impact a big thing. We’d like to thank all the support the small group of us who became the Library Action Group and chipped away tirelessly to help this happen.
To the community, cross party councillors, businesses, media, authors, other community councils, CILIP, SLIC and many other library professionals and bodies who have spoken up for the campaign and everyone who has shared and signed in person and online the campaign and petition to save our libraries.
We are delighted at this outcome for Cambuslang however I also look forward to a full public briefing from SLC and SLLC on the petition handover to communicate this transparently and provide a further update on what the other libraries situation that will be available post July (after being extended for another 4 weeks from end June closure date)
For now the fight continues…..
