Thank you for signing our petition. As you know BCC are running a consultation process for library provision across the city. We are asking that as many as possible respond to support our campaign. The link below gives access to the questionnaire and other related documents:

We do not object to mixed use of our library, indeed this is already happening. However, we are concerned that open access to books and materials will be vastly reduced as has happened in other libraries which have subsequently been lost altogether. We also want to ensure that the library stays in its purpose-built Carnegie building, is properly staffed and the well-being of our citizens is protected. Many of you have said how helpful and knowledgeable you find the staff who provide a vital service. 

We will continue to run our petition online and on paper and we'll advertise the upcoming sessions on our Facebook page. We also intend having another 'Read-in' to show support. We have put in a Freedom of Information request to access details of the lottery fund provided to build the Community Room and are liaising with other library campaigners across the city so that we have as much impact as possible when we present our petitions. 

We also ask that, if possible, you email our MP, Paulette Hamilton, the West Midlands Mayor, Andy Street, and your local Councillors so that they understand the depth of feeling and commitment we have to save our libraries.
