Silver Voices Requests Meeting With Minister on Landlines Safety Concerns

The telecom companies have restarted forced transfers from traditional landlines to internet-based phones. I have written to the Minister, Sir Chris Bryant, to request a meeting to discuss our safety concerns about this restarted programme. In particular, we are worried that vulnerable customers will have to self-identify with their telecom provider in order for their safety concerns to be taken into account and for them to receive specialised support. This means that if there is no response to a letter giving a switchover date, perhaps because the customer is in hospital or confused by the technical jargon, the switchover will proceed.
