Thank you so much for your support in the last few days. We are beginning to build momentum and hope to reach the press very soon, but we still need your help to continue sharing this petition in as many platforms as possible. Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, email and in person.
You have told us how this will impact your older loved ones, those with learning disabilities and physical problems such as poor sight, and blindness, as well as how it will impact those without mobiles, without good mobile signal or unreliable broadband. There those who say that everyone should use a mobile phone, and that you can’t fight this, and we’ll never be heard. The fact is that around 89% of people don’t even know this is going to happen to all of the 28 million landlines across households in the UK.
There are also around 28 million vulnerable adults living in the UK, many of whom may rely on a landline for contact with their loved ones and the outside world, not to mention the rising need to call for emergency help and dial 999 as we all age.
Many cannot use a mobile, nor operate routers or fix issues with networks when problems arise. Nor do these things work in a power cut. Please see this worrying BBC story that could indicate the problems for our future on digital phone lines.
We need to all use our voice and stand together to be heard, or the government and Openreach will do as they please. This is possibly one of the most important issues that will directly impact all of our futures and our ability to dial 999 and get the emergency help if and when we need it. We only ask for choice.
Please help to save our landlines...
