Project Introduction to environmental risks by Margaret Hue to Rod and Gun Club
September 28th Margaret attended the Rod and Gun Club and introduced the proposed wind turbine farm project stretching 24 miles along the Horse Heaven Hills Ridge. This land includes not only dry wheat land farms and the nearby vineyards and orchards that would be impacted by warmer climates driven by turbines but degrades the valuable and irreplaceable shrub steppe. Members of the club for generations have hunted or hiked along the hills and ridge that will be carrying 244 turbines disrupting the Pacific Flyway and sanctuaries of the birds and animals that live in this prime area. The take away from the meeting is the message still needs to be broadcasted to the community of this project. Many have not heard of the project. A project this big, worked around a community to have Olympia (state)decide for the community (local) there would be more awareness of the future impact on our community (labor and economic, environmental, protected land, bird and animals disregarded) by state and foreign investors- looking for those tax credits and tax subsidies.
