Thank you to ALL who showed up to rally to save our teachers and school-based staff yesterday morning! We estimate that 150+ people participated over the course of the morning.

What are next steps?
1) ASAP: Write an email to the Board of Education, The County Council, and the County Executive letting them know that you want them to work together to find funding to restore the teachers and school-based staff being cut: BOE@hcpss.org, Councilmail@howardcountymd.gov, CBall@howardcountymd.gov
2) Sign this petition that advocates against cuts to teachers and school-based staff: https://chng.it/QgqcpnHt8P
3) Personally reach out to friends, neighbors, relatives and colleagues and ask them to do the same two steps above.
Without change, the proposed cuts to GT teachers are even more drastic than proposed cuts last year. A total of 39 GT teachers are being cut, approximately 1 at each elementary school across Howard County. Because these proposed budget cuts were voted on so late in the budget cycle (they voted just this past Wednesday, June 4th), we have very little time for action.
The final vote on the operating budget will be on Thursday, June 12th. The board has asked for all letters to be sent by June 10th.
Education builds our future. Cuts to education cut that future. Together our voices are powerful!
Thank you for your continued advocacy.
