A few years ago, I had a heart-wrenching experience at a zoo where I saw a rhino, a living, breathing creature that was part of a species teetering on the brink of extinction. I still remember the sadness in its eyes, a silent plea for help that resonated deeply within me. There is urgency for us to act, as the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) reports that among species evaluated, nearly a third are at risk of extinction.

The plight of the rhino is not alone, other critically endangered animals like the vaquita, an incredibly rare sea mammal, and the Bornean orangutan, being increasingly threatened by deforestation, are also facing the dire possibility of disappearing forever from our natural world.
