SAVE OUR EDUCATORS

The Issue

The current budget cuts leading to teacher losing their jobs is a serious concern for both educators and learners.

The 1.2 billion rand IT tender is a prime example of how misallocation of funds is severely impacting our education system. Instead of using this substantial amount of money to address pressing needs in schools such as reducing overcrowded classrooms, hiring more teachers, and providing essential learning resources, this money is being diverted to technology projects that often fail to deliver meaningful results.

Corruption and inefficiency surrounding such tenders mean that funds meant to improve education are frequently misused or wasted. These IT contracts often end up benefiting a few, rather than addressing the needs of learners and educators. Meanwhile, schools continue to suffer from inadequate infrastructure, outdated resources, and a lack of basic tools needed for quality education.

This misuse of funds is a serious problem because it undermines our right to a proper education. Instead of focusing on the root causes of educational challenges, such as overcrowded classrooms and teacher shortages, attention is diverted to costly, underperforming projects. This creates an unfair system where students continue to be deprived of the support they need to succeed.

This is a call to action. We must demand that education funds are used where they are most needed improving classrooms, hiring more teachers, and providing quality resources to learners. The future of our nation depends on it, and we cannot afford to let corruption continue to steal opportunities from our children.
