Save Our Community Space in The Meadows, Nottingham – My Hard Work Will Not Be Undermined

For 25 years, I have poured my heart, time, and energy into building and protecting a safe, welcoming community space in The Meadows. Expanding it globally.  I am very proud, This is a place where people feel safe, supported, and connected — somewhere that strengthens our mental health, wellbeing, and sense of belonging.

Now, this space is under threat. The blinds remain open exposing contents of shop,  and the support our community relies on is being deliberately undermined. This is not an accident — it is intentional. Those responsible are trying to erase years of our  hard innovation, multi award winning work and dedication, and in doing so, they are putting both our community at risk of more deprivationand isolation.

We will not allow this injustice to happen quietly we speak our truth. This space belongs to all of us — and we will stand strong together to keep it open and thriving. Please sign this petition, share it widely, and show that The Meadows will not be silenced.

Our community matters. Our voices matter. Our space matters.

challenges.  I chose to heal my son and return to work when things were  calmer.  But the council had other ideas charging rent they have foriture the lease and put a notice on Halle Selassie face to really show NO Respect. I  paid £13,500 it was not about money it was to see if i am worthy of feeling safe i know i am and so is my child.  Infact the whole community but that is another campaign.  For over 25 years, I have passionately advocated for better support services, dedicating my skills to work to fundraise plus  create and sustain initiatives that have become multi-award winning. The community space in The Meadows stands as a testament to the efficacy of our collective effort, a beacon of learning, connection, and support.creating unique opportunities for  youth events international travel mobilising them to different countries.

This space has not only functioned as a hub for activities catering to young people, elders, and families alike, but it has also been a crucial safe haven for those in need. Through its doors, countless individuals have found temporary respite, employment, IT resources, and the companionship necessary to overcome challenges like skills development,  social isolation, poverty, and unemployment.

Currently, this invaluable community resource faces the threat of closure due to lease complications. The impending loss casts a shadow over all we have worked to achieve, threatening to strip away a space that has long been more than just a community center—it is the heart of The Meadows.

Revisiting and resolving the lease issues will ensure that our thriving community remains supported and growth-oriented. We must tackle these hurdles together by engaging with stakeholders, property owners, and local government entities to secure the future of this space.

Help us preserve this vital lifeline for our community. Sign our petition and be a part of saving The Meadows' most cherished support hub.

Our plans for Jamaica and Europe will not be disrupted with obstacles that don't support our growth and development this petition is to assert that.
