The Issue

Just as an FYI: I had to edit this petition to be less personal to our own case, as due to the unique way the Family Courts are governed, you are not allowed to talk publically about any Family Courts case.
Transparency is only one of the major problems...

So here is a generic description of what this petition is about, but I assure you, one day all our stories will be told...

Family Courts play an indispensable role in our social fabric, supposedly safeguarding the best interests of children. However, the hard truth remains that these institutions are not infallible. They can and do make mistakes. Amnesty International has documented numerous instances of the Family Courts failing to uphold the rights of children and families (Amnesty International, 2020). Just do a simple Google search and you will find hundreds of stories where the Family Courts have failed the children involved. I personally, through social media, have spoken to MANY people in the exact same (or similar) situation as me, and none of them are able to see a happy ending for their child. It's evident that the current system is not serving every child as it should.

We are not calling into question the importance of these institutions, rather their effectiveness and consistency in making decisions. Allow me to state it unambiguously: we need an independent, thorough investigation into the Family Courts system. An investigation that can recalibrate its mechanisms to work unequivocally towards its one paramount objective - the wellbeing of our children.

This is a call for accountability, transparency, and justice. On behalf of all the parents who feel sidelined in a battle for their children's futures, we appeal to you to stand in solidarity.

Please, sign this petition and lend your support to the call for an independent investigation into the Family Courts system. This may be too late for those the Family Courts have already failed, but let’s do this now so we can make sure future cases don't go down the same destructive path, and those children actually get what they need; not what a judge who hasn't even spoken to the child decides on.
