First, he creates a new profession from a failed psychological intervention and then forces it on you and I with unconstitutional legislation. Then he throws your tax dollars at it to legitimize the new profession as the only choice you will have in emotional, mental and spiritual care. Meanwhile the new College promoting this profession is coercing spiritual care and family therapists, among others, to join in order to avoid being a ‘test court case’. Then their professions are diluted and destroyed through forced Standards of Practice. As the Minister of Health is eliminating the very holistic, traditional and spiritual care industry that has served us so well for centuries, and that has been saving our imploding healthcare system $7-10 billion annually, he has another taxpayer-funded scheme in the works that he claims will fix what he is deliberately wrecking. Efforts by the pharmaceutical drug industry to have the public believe that mental illness is like brain or heart disease is seen yet again in the Minister of Health’s misleading statement that mental illness is like any other disease. Mental illness is not like any other ‘disease’. In fact, it is not a disease at all…there is no scientific support for any mental illness and no scientific support for the use of psychiatric treatments, such as electroshock, medications and long talk therapy such as cognitive behavioural therapy that keep patients embattled for years with issues such as depression, anxiety, grief and fears that often resolve with a change in lifestyle, diet, environment and support from empathic treatments such as hypnotherapy, reiki and spiritual care. Those old enough to remember the days when emotional, spiritual and mental health was left to the real professionals offering humane, empathic treatments, also remember when mental illness was not remotely the epidemic it is today. Opioid addicts are now offered another opioid—methadone. Alcoholics are prescribed opioids…and so it goes. The move is on by the Minister of Health to ensure that all healthcare professionals prescribe drugs…already Naturopaths, nurses do, and soon psychotherapists, psychologists and physiotherapists will. While he is using the unlawful Controlled Act of Psychotherapy to eliminate 10,000 or more valued non-drug healthcare professionals to ensure that the public cannot choose their own emotional, spiritual and mental health treatments, he is simultaneously ensuring a monopoly for the new profession of psychotherapy that he created out of mid-air…with your tax dollars. The Psychotherapy Act, and the companion Controlled Act of Psychotherapy, once also proclaimed, gives full control of the emotional, spiritual and mental healthcare system to the very professionals who have failed us so thoroughly.
