Thanks also to the Basford Councillor Nick Raine and Councillor Linda Woodings who tirelessly drummed up support at Bulwell Market alongside the mums and community to keep open and save Basford Campus nursery. A big thanks also to Nottingham North Labour Party leaders for supporting the nursery staff, parents and kids. The overwhelming reaction to news that the college leadership plan to shut Basford Campus nursery at Nottingham College was that the nursery must be kept open. Shutting the nursery at Basford Campus must not happen, the community wants and needs the nursery. Why hasn't the college had a meeting with the mums and community to discuss why they are closing the nursery down? Why hasn't there been a public meeting to discuss with the community how important the college nursery is for local young people who need to study so that they can advance and progress into a job for their family. Does the college still care about Bulwell, Basford and Broxtowe? How can they take away this nursery that was mainly paid for by local taxes with a Nottingham Council £5m bailout when the college couldn't afford to finish constructing the new Basford Hall Campus buildings? Isn't the college a local community resource that needs to help our mums, sisters, neighbours and all of the learners?
