This is about more than the harbour. This is about keeping Macduff a busy, lively and attractive place to live and work. Macduff harbour owes much of its safety to its dedicated night watchmen. They maintain security, assist in navigation, and are a vital part of the harbour's established routine. A proposed change seeks to remove these valuable individuals from their posts, a move that could potentially put both harbour property and surrounding community at risk. The watchmen provide cover for Macduff, Banff, Portsoy and Rosehearty harbours.

Historically, such actions have led to an increase in maritime accidents and crime in similar situations (source: International Journal for Maritime Security). Therefore, we request that Aberdeenshire Council reconsider this proposed change and uphold the position of night watchmen at the Macduff Harbour.

In addition, the impact assessment carried out by Aberdeenshire Council incorrectly stated that there was no weekend cover. This means councillors have based their decision on incorrect information.
