Petition updateSave NHS Homeopathy! The Final Decision: Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital
Homeopathy Heals Me
Dec 9, 2014
Dear Homeopathy Supporters, I have just been asked by a journalist, Caroline Wilson, a senior reporter for the Scottish Herald and Times Group to give her a quote for an article declaring that NHS Lanarkshire will no longer be referring patients for homeopathy. Sadly, I am not altogether surprised but at least we all tried our best. This was my quote: "NHS Lanarkshire's final decision on referrals to the Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital was supposed to be taken last April. There was enormous support for homeopathy generated by the Homeopathy Heals Me Petition, which collected over 26,300 signatures, many of those people filling in a Survey. The delay was probably because NHS Lanarkshire had already made up its mind to cancel referrals but was not sure how to spin it. I am sorry but not surprised, as there is a strong push to get rid of NHS funding for homeopathy by certain vested interests." Caroline then said there was no room for the quote but wrote: "Happy to do a follow-up article if I get lots of reaction, so feel free to ask others to email me." So please do send her all your views! caroline.wilson@eveningtimes.co.uk or caroline.wilson@heraldandtimes.co.uk Here is the info from NHS Lanarkshire's own website. Homoeopathy Review Decision Board agrees to cease new referrals to CIC http://www.nhslanarkshire.org.uk/news/news/Pages/homoeopathydecision.aspx The news is already up on the BBC website where it actually says: In a report that went before NHS Lanarkshire, officials set out the findings of a survey of 153 patients, who attended clinics in the health board area. On a 70% response rate, 88% said that, overall, the treatment made them feel better than before. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-30402134 I have now heard from someone who attended the Board meeting today. They said: "The presentation to the Board was certainly not impartial, but biased, flawed and misleading. They totally disregarded the views of their own Public Consultation, which the overwhelming result was for referrals to continue." I also believe that the type of studies and trials used as evidence at the Board meeting are not suitable for homeopathic medicines, which must be individualised for the patient, so this method will never present the true result. I would like to thank everyone who signed this Petition and filled in the NHS Lanarkshire Survey. Please do continue to visit the Homeopathy Heals website for all the latest news and never stop using homeopathic medicines! Kind regards, Louise Mclean, LCCH MHMA.
