Hello everybody, 

Firstly, I would like to begin with a huge thank you to everybody who has signed the petition. This petition has only been up for 4 days and we’ve already gotten 1000 signatures!! We are so blessed to know that there are so many people from beyond Macquarie University that know how important it is to ensure that Languages and Cultures continue to be taught at Macquarie University.

Since the petition has been put up, MUGA, the Macquarie Greek Studies Foundation, the Greek Herald, and other news outlets have worked tirelessly spreading the word that Macquarie University is considering to abolish Modern Greek Studies, and we’ve been approaching our local MP’s (both State and Federal) to get a open letter signed from both ministers of Greek descent, and minister who currently or worked in the past with the multicultural portfolio. 

In the meantime, we would like you all to please ensure that the word continues to spread and that you approach both the University and also your local politicians to put some pressure on the university so they know that we will not be going down without a fight.

Over the next couple days, we will be providing a letter to the greater community to make clear some points so that you can pass this message to the uni and your local MP (you are more than welcome to add and edit what you wish from this template to add your own personal touch).
