Eurasian Watermilfoil is an invasive species of aquatic vine that is obstructive of outdoor recreation, as it wraps around swimmers legs, clogs boat propellers, and snags fishing lines, as well as being highly detrimental to the ecosystem, killing off other fish and plant life in the lake. Boats in contact with Milfoil become contaminated with plant fragments, then are launched into other lakes causing it to detach and spread rapidly. Our goal in this petition is to get the government to treat all lakes affected by Milfoil if there is a public launch on the lake and low risk of collateral ecological damage, as well as stricter enforcement of boat cleaning regulations. If the government creates public access to the lake, then the government is responsible for keeping that public access from infecting the lake with Milfoil and correcting for oversight through treatment.
