Thank you for supporting this campaign. Many of you signed this petition over 7 years ago - and it made a real difference.

That community support was instrumental in getting Council to the point of developing and approving a new design for Marian St Theatre as an Arts Centre. However, progress has since stalled. Changes in Councillors and shifting priorities have meant the project has not moved forward. 

This has included Council spending over $30m on a new indoor sports facility, and putting Marian St Theatre last on its list of priorities for funding last year.

The good news is that there is now an approved development application to reopen Marian St as a vibrant Arts Centre. The vision is ready - but Council needs to get back on board.

We’ve now launched an NSW Parliamentary petition, which carries greater weight than the original petition and will require the Council to respond, as they are accountable to the NSW Government. This is a critical step to force Marian St Theatre back onto the agenda.
