Congratulations everyone who signed the petition over the past couple of days. Tonight it was submitted to Kuring-gai Council and the motion was deferred...unanimously!
Whilst this means it is not over (Marian Street Theatre will remain closed for some time yet) this gives Councillors more time have more information presented to them before reaching a conclusion about the future of the building.
The petition made a huge impact tonight, 800 signatures strong is huge for only two days. Thank you to everyone who signed the petition, wrote to councillors or shared the message.
Also thank you to all the Kuring-gai Councillors and staff who supported the motion to defer a decision tonight, and who clearly want to have dialogue with the community and with groups like MSTYP and the Kuring-gai Philharmonic. We are so thrilled! Thank you Mayor Cheryl Szatow and all other councillors, particularly Cr David Armstrong who presented the petition on our behalf.
P.S. if you wish to help MSTYP during this nomadic time, please let everyone know that our drama school enrolments are now open for 2016. We have a wonderful team of tutors on board for next year, and amazing shows planned for our young people to perform in....
"Toot toot!"...hmm, I wonder what the next show will be?
