Find Maidstone Amateur Boxing Club a new home and save it from closure

The Issue

We, the members and supporters of Maidstone Amateur Boxing Club, urgently call upon the authorities to find a new home for our club, Since 2018, we have been operating at Reed Hall, Heather House, but we have received devastating news that the building is scheduled for demolition in November 2023.

Maidstone Amateur Boxing Club is an affiliated member of England Boxing and has proudly competed at the highest level of Amateur Boxing, We have nurtured local talent, provided a safe and supportive environment for our members and contributed positively to the community of Parkwood, Maidstone.

However both Maidstone Borough Council and Kent County Council have informed us they do not have any suitable alternative locations to offer us. this leaves us with no choice but to launch this petition in the hope of finding a new home for our beloved club

Here are some key reasons why it is crucial to find a new location for Maidstone Amateur Boxing Club

Community Impact: Our club plays an essential role in promoting physical fitness, discipline, self-confidence and teamwork among young people in Parkwood, Maidstone. Losing our facility would deprive many individuals from accessing these benefits

Youth Development: By providing opportunities for young boxers to train and compete at various levels within England Boxings circuit, we contribute significantly to their personal growth as well as their potential career prospects within the sport

Social Inclusion: Our club welcomes individuals from all backgrounds without discrimination or prejudice. We believe in fostering diversity and creating an inclusive space where everyone feels welcome regardless of their age or ability.

Positive Engagement: The presence of a dedicated boxing facility helps divert young people away from the negative influences such as crime or substance abuse by providing them an alternative focus on sportsmanship and personal development.

Sporting Excellence: Over the years, Maidstone Amateur Boxing Club has produced boxers who have represented our town and county at regional and even national levels, Losing our facility would hinder the growth of future champions.

We understand that finding a suitable location may present challenges, but we firmly believe that with the support of the local authorities and community a solution can be found. We urge Maidstone Borough Council and Kent County Council to explore all possible options, including partnering with other organizations or seeking funding opportunities to secure a new home for Maidstone Amateur Boxing Club.

Together, Lets ensure that our club continues to thrive and positively impact the lives of young in Parkwood, Maidstone.
