The Issue

What is happening?

Our community land is currently being cleared for housing purposes. This land is traditionally shared by all villagers and supports our common needs. Some decisions have moved forward without full community discussion or a clear understanding of the long-term impacts. As a result, areas important for grazing mithuns, local plants, water sources, and shared resources are at risk.

Why this matters?

If the land is destroyed or privatised we lose :

•Soil and water health.
•Animals, birds and plants.
•Tribal  culture and  livelihoods.
•Future resources.

Right now, we cannot use this land because we lack sustainable development plans. We have enough land for everyone’s need, but not for anyone’s greed. Without action now, this land will be gone forever.

Why Act Now?

By signing, you help:

•Stop illegal bulldozing immediately.                    •Stop arbitrary distribution of community land.
•Maintain ‘status quo’ (as it is) and in future let the land be used for community purpose only.
•Protect Mai Village community land for all generations.
•Ensure land is used for community needs and doesn't affect our way of life.
•Plan sustainable development so villagers can use the land wisely.

Protecting community lands is an essential step towards preserving our environment. These lands offer immense ecological, cultural, and economic value to the people of Mai Village. By promoting sustainable practices and encouraging indigenous stewardship, we can safeguard these precious ecosystems.

Stand for Mai Village. Protect our land, our culture, and our way of life.
