We are thrilled to see the recent initiative by the Prime Minister and Health Minister to introduce the Ayushman Bharat card for senior citizens aged 70 and above, providing them with much-needed health security. This step will surely bring relief to our elderly and ensure they receive the care they deserve without financial stress.

With this positive step, we humbly request the government to extend a similar lifeline to India’s organ transplant recipients. A cashless health card, specifically for transplant recipients, would be invaluable in covering the lifelong cost of immunosuppressant medications and diagnostic tests that are critical to preventing organ rejection.

To keep the donated organ healthy within our bodies, we must follow a strict regimen of medicines and frequent tests. Unfortunately, these essential treatments can impose heavy financial burdens. We are not asking for more than the right to lead healthy, financially secure lives with the organs gifted to us. This is why we have sent a second letter to the Prime Minister and Health Minister, asking for comprehensive insurance coverage and financial support for the costs that are crucial to maintaining our health after a transplant.

We, the citizens of India, stand united in our call for this vital change. It is time for our voices to be heard, as the health and wellbeing of thousands of transplant recipients depend on it. Together, we can make a difference—not just for ourselves, but for the future of organ donation and transplantation in our country.

Thank you for standing with us. Your continued support can help us secure a brighter, healthier future for all transplant recipients in India.
